Guitar Exco Interview

Guitar exco interview yesterday was scary.

It was certainly one of the most gruesome interviews I have ever been to. Well, fortunately I wasn't one of those being interviewed, but unfortunately, I was one of the interviewers.

The interview started at 9am, ended at 3pm. Over the 6 hour period, 12 candidates were interviewed. So you can estimate how long each person was interviewed. I really sympathized with our poor juniors who had to stay for so long and be scrutinized so thoroughly... Really felt very bad about that...

I guess it was because all of us in the senior exco had very high expectations of the new exco. We wanted to ensure that the club will be in good hands when our juniors take over. We wanted to put the strongest team possible to take charge of the club, and be entrusted with the task of bringing guitar to a greater height.

And therefore, the selection of exco members became a highly challenging task for us, and the decision was certainly not an easy one to be made. We had to consider the abilities of each individual, the relative strengths and weaknesses of the candidates and the overall chemistry between each potential member of the new exco, among many many other factors. It was an extremely painful job, but certainly necessary. By choosing the right people in the exco, we are laying the foundation for a better guitar club in future.

For the junior exco:

Let's hope that we have made the right decisions, and you can fulfill the promises you made during your campaign speeches. Don't be disappointed if you're not in the exco. We have left many opportunities for you to contribute equally significantly for the club. Neither should you be complacent if you're in the exco. Work doubly hard and contribute as much as you can for the club. Jia you!!

For the senior exco:

Ruo Cheng, Sean, Shir Li, Yuan Xin, Han Lu, Jane, Valerie, Shao Kai and Weng Woh, it was really wonderful to be able to work with all of you! Although during our term, we screwed up a lot of things, ultimately we managed to pull through and see the club grow under our leadership. This itself would be an achievement that all of us in the exco can be proud of! Let's wish our juniors all the best! =)

Guitar club will rock on.
